About this Job:

Volunteer Toronto is Canada’s largest volunteer centre with over 40 years of experience connecting volunteers to the organizations that need them.

Our services empower local volunteers to find opportunities that make a positive difference in their community. Through in-person and online training, we also educate and help non-profit organizations and community groups run successful volunteer programs. 

We have 16 permanent and contract staff members and an annual operating budget of $1 million.

We’re looking for a motivated, creative professional to join our team to lead the coordination of how we engage and work with our network of non-profits. You’ll be the main contact for over 650 non-profits that subscribe to our service, from local theatres to international development charities to youth advocacy organizations. As we’re hoping to engage more non-profits in the future, you’ll be a key part of our growth strategy, working to build relationships and raise our profile in the non-profit community. You’ll be a self-starter, have an entrepreneurial spirit, and possess the people skills to engage a diverse range of non-profits and community partners.

Responsibilities
Partnership Building & Communications

  • Work with the Director of Services for Non-Profits and the Marketing and Communications Manager to  implement actions to increase Volunteer Toronto’s engagement with non-profits
  • Cultivate stakeholder relationships with non-profit organizations and networks to raise the profile of Volunteer Toronto in the non-profit sector
  • Write content for monthly newsletters and occasional blog posts
  • Attend sector and community events to represent the organization and raise awareness of our services
  • Act as Volunteer Toronto’s liaison with volunteer management professional associations such as TAVA, SAVA, and PAVR-O, and with high profile voluntary sector groups and events


Program Coordination & Administration

  • Provide support to non-profits wishing to post positions on our website or access our other services or discounts
  • Screen and approve new subscribers, and inform them of the services they have access to
  • Manage a team of volunteers who provide administrative support
  • Track expenses in line with program budgets and report quantitative metrics
Requirements:

Essential:

  • Passion and history of volunteering
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in program coordination, community outreach, relationship management, or similar role
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong computer literacy skills (MS-Word, Excel, Internet applications),with the ability to learn and troubleshoot independently


Assets:

  • Experience with or knowledge of volunteer management
  • Knowledge of Toronto’s non-profit sector
  • Experience writing newsletters, blog posts or promotional materials
